Matter exists in either the solid state or the fluid state. The fluid state is further divided into the liquid and the gaseous states. A fluid is a substance which is capable of flowing. A liquid is a fluid, which possesses definite volume which varies slightly with temperature and pressure. Under ordinary conditions, liquids are considered as incompressible fluid. Fluid mechanics is that the branch of Engg. science which deals with the behavior of the fluids at rest as well as in motion. In general the scope of fluid mechanics is very wide which includes the study of all gases and liquids. Fluid mechanics deals with the analysis and methods to solve many engineering problems involving liquid flow, such as flow through pipes or channels, storage dams, pumps and water turbines, hydraulically operated machines such as lift, crane, press etc. Hence it is essential for the engineering students of Civil, Mechanical, and allied branches of engineering to understand the theoretical and practical aspects of fluid mechanics

4. Applied Mechanics Lab.

This laboratory gives the basic understanding of structural member under the action of loads. The students will experience the changes in behaviour of structure due to application of loads. Basics of determinate structures will be introduced through experiment. The main purpose of any structure is to support the loads coming on it by properly transferring them to the foundation. The students will be able to compute internal, external forces and displacements produced by the application of loads to make the structure safe. Detailed analysis is to be performed to determine the bending moments, shear force, axial forces etc at the required section.

5. CNC & Automation Lab.

Automation is a technology adopted with the application of mechanical, electronic and computer – based systems to operate and control production. CNC stands for computer numerical control. It is a machine controlled by a computer. Its external appearance is similar to that of a NC machine. Tape or Computer Keyboard or Tutor Keyboard is used as input media for CNC machines. For NC machines tape is to be fit repeat to produce repeated jobs. But for CNC machine tape is fit once and the program is stored in the memory and can be run repeat to produce repeated jobs.

6. Automobile Engineering Lab.

The objective of this lab is to understand the concept of the working of different components and systems which are involved in an automobile. It provides a sound knowledge to students about the operation and maintenance of the automobile. This laboratory has a scope to equip the student with maximum knowledge about the modern vehicle design and latest technology and development in automobile engineering.

8. CAD/CAM Lab.

Before we design and manufacture any component, the object must be presented in the form of drawings along with different views and dimensions. Further, the bill of materials etc. must also be supplied. With the advent of computers and relevant software packages, the drafting drifted from manual to computer aided drafting. The networking between the shop floor sections and design sections makes it easier to share the data and information. The modifications (in the drawings, materials or process of operation) if required, can be discussed on line and can be implemented without any time lag. The use of interactive graphics programs to develop 2D and 3D models, assemblies, part lists, and dimensional drawings of various components, structures or objects with the help of a computer is called Computer-Aided Design(CAD). The data generated by a CAD system can be directly utilized by a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) system. Thus, CAD and CAM are interrelated to each other.
